“…so now surrender to them when they shriek that immorality consists of pronouncing moral judgement.  When they yell that it is selfish to be certain that you are right, you hasten to assure them that you’re certain of nothing.  When they shout that it’s immoral to stand on your convictions, you assure them them that you have no convictions whatever.  When the thugs of Europe’s People’s States snarl that you are guilty of intolerance, because you don’t treat your desire to live and their desire to kill you as a difference of opinion–you cringe and hasten to assure them that you are not intolerant of any horror.  When some barefoot bum in some pesthole of Asia yells at you: How dare you be rich–you apologize and beg him to be patient and promise him you’ll give it all away.”

A question to ponder about polls

I agree with him, but I hope ‘the architect’ chokes on his whiteboard!

The Daley Gator

Looking over several polls, both state and national, I am struck by something odd. These polls show Obama with 5, 7, 9, even 10 point leads in some swing states. Yet these polls show both candidates winning about the majorities of their party, and they also show Romney winning independents. Does this not strike you as odd? Independents usually swing the election don’t they? Gateway Pundit has video of Karl Rove discussing this on O’Reilly’s show Now, I am not the biggest fan of Rove, but he knows about polls.

I would also point out that Dick Morris has Romney winning by 4-5 points if the election were held now. Do not buy these polls folks!

Wanted: Death Panels (Just Don’t Call Them That)

Sarah Palin is somewhere, and I bet she’s gloating.  What we were told was crazy, uneducated, right wing rhetoric, appears to be occurring before our eyes; it’s just not called a death panel.  It’s called “rationing”.  Sounds great huh?

Q2 GDP Slashed To 1.3%

Real Inflation has to be around 2-3%; GDP isn’t even keeping up.

The third reading on Q2 GDP just came out and the report was ugly.

The headline growth number was revised down to on an annualized basis.

Economists expected the number to be unchanged at .

“The “third” estimate of the second-quarter percent change in real GDP is 0.4 percentage point, or $16.0 billion, less than the “second” estimate issued last month, primarily reflecting downward revisions to private inventory investment, to personal consumption expenditures, and to exports,” wrote the .

The personal consumption component was revised down to 1.5 percent. Economists were expecting it to be unchanged at 1.7 percent.

NFL reaches agreement with refs

Cincinnati Bengals

I’m a huge NFL fan, but suprisingly I still don’t care who refs the games. WHO-DEY!

The Daley Gator

Via the Blaze

The NFL and National Football League Referees Association, have finally reached an agreement, which probably means the end of lingerie-league rejects making boneheaded calls in stadium end zones.

Around midnight Thursday morning, after days of long and heated negotiations, word reached reporters that NFL-trained referees will be back on the field in time for Thursday night’s game between the Baltimore Ravens and the Cleveland Browns.

Commissioner Roger Goodell and the NFL agreed to hike referees’ annual compensation from $149,000 to $173,000. The new package will also reportedly include better benefits and 401(k) plans.

Great! Now highly paid professionals can screw up calls like only highly trained professionals can!

A judge’s order will not stop the Obama administration from pressing forward in its quest to punish a Catholic family’s business for refusing to comply with the HHS mandate.

Hercules Industries, an HVAC business in Denver, won an injunction against the controversial provision requiring employers to cover contraceptives, sterilization, and abortion-inducing drugs in its health care plans on July 27.

Durable Goods Orders At 3 1/2 Year Low

No way the polls are accurate.

The Daley Gator

New orders for long-lasting U.S. manufactured goods in August fell by the most in 3-1/2 years, pointing to a sharp slowdown in factory activity even as a gauge of planned business spending rebounded.

The Commerce Department said on Thursday durable goods orders dived 13.2 percent, the largest drop since January 2009, when the economy was in the throes of a recession. Orders for July were revised down to show a 3.3 percent increase instead of the previously reported 4.1 percent gain.

Economists polled by Reuters had expected orders for durable goods – items from toasters to aircraft that are meant to last at least three years – to fall 5 percent.

Last month, the drop in orders reflected weak aircraft and automobiles demand. Boeing received only one aircraft order in August, down from 260 in July, according to information posted on the plane maker’s website.

Transportation equipment tumbled 34.9 percent…

Creator of Barack Obama & Founder of Socialist New Party– Joel Rogers

English: Barack Obama Deutsch: Barack ObamaBarack Obama Deutsch: Barack Obama (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

I said there will be 3 reposts, here’s an extra 1 just because!

Trevor Loudon says it is becoming increasingly clear that Barack Obama did not create a movement. A movement created Barack Obama.

One of the key leaders of that movement is a Madison, Wisconsin, law professor and sociologist — Joel Rogers.

While not widely known outside “progressive” circles, few people have exercised more influence in more strands of the movement that selected and elected Barack Obama, than has Joel Rogers.

Obama’s former “Green Jobs” Czar, the Marxist-Leninist Van Joneshas been part of Rogers’ network for some years.

English: Professor Joel Rogers, UW-Madison

Professor Joel Rogers, UW-Madison (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Rogers has served with Jones on the board of the Apollo Alliance, a radical led coalition of green groups and labor unions that had considerable input in writing Obama’s massive “stimulus package”. Rogers has served as Senior Policy Adviser to Jones’ Oakland based Green For All — the Northern California affiliate of the Apollo Alliance.

Jones credits Rogers with dreaming up the White House economic model — basically a 21st century “green” version of corporate socialism. Rogers also allegedly masterminded the electoral alliance that put Obama in the driver’s seat. He then founded the organization that helped write the “stimulus bill”, which is now funneling billions into a movement primarily designed to keep the Obama and the Democrats in power.

That’s a lot of influence for one man. Does Van Jones exaggerate? Let’s investigate.

The New Party which Rogers and Dan Cantor founded in the early 90s, was an attempt to to unite the poor, Blacks, Latinos , labor and “community groups” to work with and inside the Democratic Party to elect large numbers of leftist candidates to public office.

The party was essentially amalgam of four organizations — radical Washington DC “think tank,” the Institute for Policy Studies (IPS), Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), Service Employees International Union (SEIU), and Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN).

Chicago New Party Update

by Bruce Bentley

About 50 activists attended the Chicago New Party membership meeting in July. The purpose of the meeting was to update members on local activities and to hear appeals for NP support from four potential political candidates. The NP is being very active in organization building and politics. There are 300 members in Chicago. In order to build an organizational and financial base the NP is sponsoring house parties. Locally it has been successful both fiscally and in building a grassroots base. Nationwide it has resulted in 1000 people committed to monthly contributions. The NP’s political strategy is to support progressive candidates in elections only if they have a concrete chance to “win”. This has resulted in a winning ratio of 77 of 110 elections. Candidates must be approved via a NP political committee. Once approved, candidates must sign a contract with the NP. The contract mandates that they must have a visible and active relationship with the NP.

The political entourage included Alderman Michael Chandler, William Delgado, chief of staff for State Rep Miguel del Valle, and spokespersons for State Sen. Alice Palmer, Sonya Sanchez, chief of staff for State Sen. Jesse Garcia, who is running for State Rep in Garcia’s District; and Barack Obama, chief of staff for State Sen. Alice Palmer. Obama is running for Palmer’s vacant seat.

A Town Meeting on Economic Insecurity: Employment and Survival in Urban America

By Bob Roman

Over three hundred people attended the first of two Town Meetings on Economic Insecurity on February 25 in Ida Noyes Hall at the University of Chicago. Entitled “Employment and Survival in Urban America”, the meeting was sponsored by the UofC DSA Youth Section, Chicago DSA and University Democrats. The panelists were Toni Preckwinkle, Alderman of Chicago’s 4th Ward; Barack Obama, candidate for the 13th Illinois Senate District…..

Barack Obama observed that Martin Luther King’s March on Washington in the 1960s wasn’t simply about civil rights but demanded jobs as well. Now the issue is again coming to the front, but he wished the issue was on the Democratic agenda not just on Buchanan’s.

One of the themes that has emerged in Barack Obama’s campaign is “what does it take to create productive communities”, not just consumptive communities. It is an issue that joins some of the best instincts of the conservatives with the better instincts of the left. He felt the state government has three constructive roles to play.

The first is “human capital development”. By this he meant public education, welfare reform, and a “workforce preparation strategy”. Public education requires equality in funding. It’s not that money is the only solution to public education’s problems but it’s a start toward a solution. The current proposals for welfare reform are intended to eliminate welfare but it’s also true that the status quo is not tenable. A true welfare system would provide for medical care, child care and job training. While Barack Obama did not use this term, it sounded very much like the “social wage” approach used by many social democratic labor parties. By “workforce preparation strategy”, Barack Obama simply meant a coordinated, purposeful program of job training instead of the ad hoc, fragmented approach used by the State of Illinois today.

The state government can also play a role in redistribution, the allocation of wages and jobs. As Barack Obama noted, when someone gets paid $10 million to eliminate 4,000 jobs, the voters in his district know this is an issue of power not economics. The government can use as tools labor law reform, public works and contracts.

Finally, Illinois needs an industrial strategy. How do we create more jobs for everyone? Illinois has no strategy for encouraging high wage, high productivity jobs.
